I don't think most people understand that the US does have a kernel-level backdoor into almost every commercial PC (Intel ME/AMD PSP) and most phones (DSP/Pluton security modules). Unless you're a full luddite or living in a faraday cage, the US can spy the fuck out of anyone they want.
