AVGO. CFO screwed up not listening to why ORCL crashed.  Was increased capex.  The mom he mentioned > capex stock crashed $40.  Investors are on edge giving AVGO such multiple that anything could derail and this did.  But I am impressed w their backlog and buy the dip

Bought AVGO at 382 this morning and I feel like a genius Hubris like this never ever goes badly.

AVGO has been mentioning there are only about potential 8-10 companies who can try to develop custom ASICs given the large-scale nature of the business. Google, Meta, ByteDance, Anthropic, OpenAI have already made the list, customer #5 is potentially the sixth customer (despite the misnomer) and could be Apple given they are one of few remaining traditional companies with a deep enough balance sheet to fund long-term agreements

I thought Anthropic was using Trainium chips (still AVGO but not Googles design)

so you're saying AVGO has low Forward P/E? What are their forward P/Es then, perhaps maybe its just temporarily inflated because of forward P/E. So what's AMD's forward P/E? I mean this is all great but I noticed you didnt comment at all on NVDA yet broadcom and amd are ahead in growth for the stock for the year. To be objective, you cant leave out NVDA. I would think for all 3 that NVDA has the lowest p/e and forward p/e implying its undervaluation with most projected revenue growth.

AVGO PE is negatively impacted by noncash amortization of the VMware acquisition. PE is closer to 35 to 40. Look at their cash flow statement. There's a reason for the madness, millions of investors have spoken.

Do yourself a favor and look at the cash flow statements for these companies. Broadcom turns nearly 50% of their revenue into cash from operations. Their profit is significantly impacted by a noncash amortization of the VMware acquisition. PE for AVGO would be closer to 38 or 40 without it. Edit. AMD will double in revenue in the next 2 years. They are the number 1 data center CPU, and Capex is tripling.

Stocks are bets on the future. Nvidia is the leader of a monopoly, and people are betting on AVGO and AMD to steal market share from them.
