These are cases where it was shown companies were malicious, intentional, and deceptive in their practices. That's a lot. Jury on the one in L. A. awarded $3mil, and are now considering punitive damages. Granted, it's relatively small potatoes proportionately right now; but, if a litigation trend takes fire, and neither company changes there ways, a domino effect has to be considered.
