I fully agree with you. I’ve been obsessed with this. I’ve been tracking QQQ and NVDA short term expiration contract contracts up until March 20. I don’t want to assume too much about participants or dealers or market makers and if they were bought and sold, but I just assume intent based on the candle of the option contract itself. On trading view, you can just load all of the zero 0DTE as price charts. It’s delayed by 15 minutes, but you can at least see the 5min candles that the largest option blocks are traded on. This is in MST but For example today on $QQQ the 10:30am candle was initiated by selling of the $610P $611P and the $610C. I’m just going to say people, traders and the dealers / MMs are basically trading large blocks of options, strategically and then targeting the dynamic hedging function, created by the purchase or selling of these very short dated option contracts. Like you can go look at any of the time frames on the five minutes and even down to the one minute and compare it to any of these largest volume of 0DTE and see that they’re just using them on different expirations with different convexity as either a powder keg or a ammo dump. You can see it as early as the day before or two days before on some of these. Retail ain’t buying a single 50k block of OTM Mar20 NVDA puts even if it’s only 15 delta. The single blocks of the NTM contracts would be what really swings things because that forces the dealers/MMs to have to hedge faster. But also seems to be happening is these people are targeting longer dated expirations like the month end expirations . The further they go out, there would be more sellers like ETF funds and option writing strategies aka covered calls, banks. There’s an entire industry of option market deal, dealers that traders can target and buy from. Tl;dr we are seeing the most manipulated market because of the market effects of momentum, mean reversion, pinning happening, almost on a five minute level
