My net worth crossed the 1 million mark recently which is great but I know I’m a ways off from being able to retire in the area I live. Plus I’m likely to be laid off pretty soon, and while a part of me welcomes a break, I’m in tech so who knows when I’ll be able to find my next job. Pretty burnt out with work and the uncertainty of the future makes everything feel heavy. And while I have a lot to be grateful for it boggles my mind that I’m nowhere near where I need to be financially in order to live a comfortable lifestyle with my family. Not sure why I’m posting this. My circumstances are better than most so I shouldn’t have anything to complain about. But having to work the next 20+ years to earn a couple more million in order to feel financially secure enough to retire - this for some reason really bums me out.
