Any of you heard of "expected move" or "volatility crush"? Don't buy options just before earnings. Very risky. You "can" win but the stock has to move quite a bit generally. Placing a long trade a few weeks prior to earnings can work but the options have to be cheaper than expected. I wouldn't buy calls or puts on TSLA when earnings are only a few days away.

What, you mean the billion dollars worth of shares that pumped TSLA up like 25% a bit over a month ago? The only thing that tells us is that Elon is confident in his ability to influence hype around Tesla, and given Tesla's entire market cap exists as a result of his ability to generate hype it seems to be a reasonable conclusion. However I don't think it's a particularly strong endorsement of Tesla's current share price, only of Elon's self awareness about his own influence.
