Honestly smart to take the Microsoft approach - rather than work on developing new stuff, just buy out any potential rivals, and restructure it all until nothing is left.

Yeah. I guess the bear perspective would be that the deal could fall through, or WBD is overvalued at that price, or that both companies will become worse through this deal instead of getting better. Those are all realistic but regardless I feel like relatively short term (1-6 months) this plays really well.

Better strategy is to buy stocks / options for the company that's being acquired, rather than the one that's doing the acquiring, since there's an acquisition premium for the former, and also the latter takes on debt to achieve the acquisition which people might react negatively to. Full disclosure, I have 5 shares in NFLX post-split at 104.86 cost basis, have no shares in WBD, had a 12/5 WBD 23.5 call purchased on 11/21 that I sold on 11/28 for a $4 profit, and currently have a NFLX 12/5 103 call that's not going to be worth shit tomorrow. But when I die, on my deathbed, I will achieve total consciousness. So I've got that going for me.
