Warner Bros + Paramount could resolve a churn dilemma that both streaming services as separate entities have suffered. WBD has historically suffered high churn when hit series (e.g. House of the Dragon) end. Paramount+ has lower churn during the NFL season but struggles during the off season. Combining WBD hit dramas, more limited but still important sports programming and vast catalog of films with Paramount’s NFL carriage and kids content would help to engender a 12-month engagement cycle for the combined platform that can actually compete with Netflix & Disney+.

Ultimately, an acquisition of Warner Bros may be existential for both Paramount and Peacock, and therefore aside from potential direct financial benefits an acquisition by Netflix could potentially be killing three birds with one stone as WBD would be housed within Netflix and PSKY and NBCU/Peacock would have difficulty remaining competitive.
