CRWD and NET down almost 10% today because... Claude has a new code review skill
One of the most misguided dumps I've seen in a long time just happened. [Anthropic released a new code review skill for Claude which will help find and fix vulnerabilities in software](https://www.anthropic.com/news/claude-code-security) and the algos are selling security stocks like crazy. Take it from someone in the biz: Cloudflare and CrowdStrike do not make application security products that help with code review. They have little to no exposure to this product release. The companies that would get pummeled would be companies like SonarQube or Snyk, neither of which are publicly traded. Even if Claude does fix all of the worlds' software bugs, no one is going to stop buying Falcon and putting their servers behind Cloudflare's infrastructure because of it. That would be like not wearing your seatbelt while driving because you just tightened all the nuts on your wheels. The malice and stupidity of other humans (and yourself) is still a way bigger risk to you while driving than your wheels falling off. If anything, with OpenClaw blowing up, Cloudflare's bot monitoring and protection is only going to get more valuable as AI agents start using the web more. I'm buying this dip

I mean, I have a good job. Pays well, commute's okay when I have to do it which is only like 2x/week, and I have automated away much of the bullshit. But I still find myself asking "why the fuck do I need to do this for another like 10-15 years???". If I could like 2x my net worth, I'd fuck off into the sunset.

Is anyone considering PayPal?
I understand that the level of competition is a downside. I also understand that PYPL has been strongly bearish since 2021. However, there is a lot of potential here. Here is a quick summary: Revenue increasing YOY β Gross profit increasing YOY β Net profit increasing YOY β Health acid-test ratio β The company has plenty of cash and is not drowning in debt. It pays a regular dividend and has a global customer base. Despite the good financials, the current CEO is stepping down as the company 'is not where it needs to be'. The new CEO, Enrique Lores, takes office on 1 March, 2026. New CEO's are a gamble. They can drive stock prices lower, but they can also turn things around. The concern with buying PayPal is that it's a value trap, i.e. it seems like a bargain, but the company has no growth potential. It becomes stagnant, or its financials even start declining. I get it. But, is it worth $40 per share? I think so. Prices are back to where they started in 2015. From a technical view, buying PayPal at any level since 2021 would have resulted in significant losses. The stock has fallen another 50% since the summer of 2025! So, I'm hesitant. I'm cautious, for good reasons, but interested to see where the price goes from here. I'm interested to see if $40 is a bottom or just another level which breaks and the price moves lower.

Tradestation 1099B Inaccurate
I received my Tradestation 1099B and noticed an issue where for Short Option Trades closed out at a loss, Proceeds & Cost are reported as Zero and actual loss on trade reported correctly in the Net Gain/Loss column as a negative amount. There are no adjustments as it's not a wash sale. In Prior year's, Net Proceeds were reported as a negative amount equal to the loss with a cost of Zero. Anyone else seeing a similar issue or dealt with a similar issue? More detailed Explanation: There is a significant change in how short option losses are being reported on the 2025 1099-B compared to the 2024 filing year. Specifically, for short positions closed at a loss: * **2024 Methodology:**Β The broker reported the net loss as aΒ **negative value**Β in the Proceeds column (Column D), with $0 in the Cost Basis column (Column E). * *Example:*Β Sell Put for $50, Buy to Close for $200 =Β **-$150 Proceeds**Β |Β **$0 Cost**Β |Β **$150 Loss**. * The 2024 methodology is consistent with Regulation 1.6045-1 (m)4 which govern how such transactions should be reported via 1099-B * **2025 Methodology:**Β The broker is reportingΒ **$0**Β in both Proceeds (Column D) and Cost Basis (Column E), yet still recording the full loss in the Gain/Loss column. * *Example:*Β Sell Put for $50, Buy to Close for $200 =Β **$0 Proceeds**Β |Β **$0 Cost**Β |Β **$150 Loss**. * This does not follow published regulations. **The Impact:** The 2025 reporting method is mathematically inconsistent. Because $(Proceeds - Cost) is Not Equal to Gain/Loss$, the "Sum of Proceeds" at the bottom of the 1099-B is being artificially inflated by the absolute value of these losses. This creates a reconciliation nightmare when trying to tie total proceeds back to actual cash flow or trade logs. Any other broker reporting proceeds and cost as 0 on short sale option transactions closed out at a loss?

Yes, we're in a K-shaped economy. CPI diverges heavily from stock market growth, and it's due to rich asset holders piling into stocks and other asset classes as the dollar inflates. They keep buying to preserve (and enjoy) their wealth, and since GDP = consumer spending + gov't spending + private investments + net exports, they're propping up the economy as gov't spending, exports, diminish and private investments are exiting the US. IMO ETFs and other passive investment funds worsen the divide through blindly investing stocks regardless of fundamentals, which heavily diverts the current prices from true value. Ofc the rich buy into ETFs as a way of diversifying and maintaining their wealth.

Every time you buy a $30k Tesla youβre making Elon about $500k richer. Assuming a $10k profit per car and a 371 P/E ratio which would make the company market cap grow by about $4M and Elon owning 1/8th of Tesla brings us to about $500k increase of net worth per car sold

($11,611.03) CVNA options loss wash sales resulting in tax bill going for $0 to $7,445. Cant make this shit up.
Had a $11,611.03 loss trading CVNA call options in 2025. It generated wash sales turning it in to $7,445 taxes owing on this loss. Still trying to process and understand how wash sales can f\*ck option traders and if im stuck with this tax bill on my loss. Looking at my fidelity ledger and adding up the net proceeds of buying and selling of all CVNA call options its: -$11,611.03. Looking at the 1099B net realized gain/loss its: -$51,065.85. If you subtract the real loss (-$11,611.03) from -$51,065.85 you'll get $39,454.87 (which is $0.26 off from the wash sales number of 39,455.13 on the 1099b idk why, maybe some sort of rounding) Am I fucked? This week will be very volatile because of VIX expiration on Wednesday and then options expiration for February on Friday. This OPEX doesnβt have that much volume, but next OPEX for March has twice the volume. This week will be interesting because itβs condensed with this holiday. I expect even more violent intraday swings. UVIX has had two successful weeks of positive net returns (+1% and +13%) which indicates that the volatility term structure has changed
