I started options trading about 2 months ago. Would play it safe. Buy qqq puts 2 months out. Strike price 400 if qqq was at 600. Would sell between a 10 percent to 20 percent profit. When price would go up, rinse and repeat. Learned about theta so started changing expires and strike price. Sometimes it would happen in a day and sometimes it would take a few days but the same process every time. Took 25k to 125k. Cashed out my 25k. 100k sitting in profit. And the last 2 days have wiped it all off and I am Left with a 14k profit. I thought I had this figured out but I learned so much abkjt myself. It’s so easy to do this when you are taking profits but you won’t be able to cut your loss on a bad day because you start assuming the profit is yours.
